    This morning event occurs between 6:00 am and 7:00 a.m. on Wednesdays. 

    Members attending this event are required to observe existing Bolles School visitors’ rules (comportment, COVID and/or other requirements) during their stay.   

    The group meets Wednesday mornings between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. on the Bolles School track for group interval training. Members will sign in, warm up, and perform some dynamic stretching. Track intervals begin at 6:00.

     TWO registrations are required to participate in this event: 

    1. You must be a registered member of JTC Running. 
    2. You must register for the Bolles Wednesday Morning Workout Group event online, at least 18 hours prior to attending your first week's event. The registration is good for all remaining weeks of the year, ending in December.  Persons who are not on the morning event roster will not be permitted on the track.   

    You may be asked for your Drivers’ License by the Bolles entrance security guard prior to any morning's workout. The security guard might scan your Drivers’ License through the Raptor program (a sexual predator data base) to be sure you meet security requirements. 

    Parking: After entering the campus, take the 2nd left turn; the baseball field will be adjacent on the left as you drive into the lot. Park in an open space in that lot. Walk from there to the track; the bright stadium lights will show the way. Do not park in the enclosed parking area closest to the track. After your workout, you must vacate the parking area by 7:20; it is then reserved for student and staff parking. Walk from there to the track; the bright stadium lights will show the way.  

    Meet with the JTCRunning coach on the track not later than 6:00 a.m. and initial the check-in sheet next to your name. The coach will inform the group of any new or expected changes in campus rules or procedures, matters related to members and events, then give a description of the intervals. Runners may place personal items such as hydration, towels, masks, etc. along the fence near the starting line.  Rest rooms are available under the stadium seating area. 

    Please note that the workouts are geared towards adults. Registered runners age fifteen and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times during the session.

    The group meets Wednesday evenings at the Bolles School for an interval track workout. Members will sign in, warm up, and perform some dynamic exercises in advance of the 6:00 p.m. intervals. Our schedule of Wednesday evening intervals is listed on the JTC Running website Calendar at https://jtcrunning.com/calendar/  Please click on the link to become familiar with it. 

    Occasionally a JTC Wednesday ev
    ening interval event is cancelled (blacked out) due to a Bolles School Athletic activity, scheduled or unscheduled.  When our scheduled events are cancelled due to a blackout, an alternate location, with instructions for the workout, will be sent to the event members by e-mail.

    Fall 2026 Half Marathon Training Class
    12 Weeks • Supportive Community • All Paces Welcome

    TRAINING CLASS DESCRIPTION

    The Fall 2026 Half Marathon Class is a 12‑week training program designed to help runners of all ability levels prepare for a fall half marathon. We meet Tuesdays at 6:15 PM at the Winston Family YMCA and Saturdays at 7:00 AM at rotating locations throughout Jacksonville.

    Our kickoff class will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, outside 1st Place Sports – Baymeadows at 6:15 PM. After a brief introduction, we’ll head out for a short run, so come dressed and ready to move.

    If you’re unsure whether the class is right for you, you’re invited to attend the first session on September 8th. You’ll meet the coach and pace leaders, hear how the program works, and join the short run before deciding whether to register.

    This program can also serve as a stepping stone for runners planning to complete a marathon in December or January. Our target half marathon is the Community First Thanksgiving Half Marathon on November 26, 2026.

    YOUR RUNNING LEVEL

    This is a welcoming, inclusive program, but it is not a couch‑to‑half‑marathon class. Prior running experience is not required, but building a small base beforehand will help you feel more comfortable and confident as training begins.

    If you’re newer to running, the class can still work well for you as long as you begin adding some easy miles before kickoff. As a general guide:

    • Novice Plus: Aim for 6–10 miles per week
    • Intermediate: Aim for 10–15 miles per week
    • Advanced: Aim for 18+ miles per week

    All paces and experience levels are welcome. Many runners will use run/walk intervals, and you do not need to run continuously to participate. If you’re returning after time off, start gradually and listen to your body as you build toward the suggested weekly mileage.

    Pace groups will be formed based on participant needs and leader availability, and may shift throughout the season.

    TRAINING PLANS

    Participants may choose from three training plans—Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each plan offers a structured, supportive path toward a successful half marathon.

    Plans are flexible and can be adjusted as needed. Sharon is available to help tailor any plan to your fitness level, schedule, and personal goals.

    GROUP RUNS

    The class meets twice weekly for group training:

    Tuesdays – 6:15 PM

    We gather for a brief group discussion or guest speaker, then head out for a training run at 6:30 PM. Tuesday sessions meet on the River Walk near the Winston Family YMCA in Riverside, except for the kickoff class on September 8th at 1st Place Sports, Baymeadows.

    Saturdays – 7:00 AM

    Saturday long runs begin September 12th and meet at different locations across Jacksonville, including Riverside, Ortega, Nocatee, San Marco, Orange Park, eTown, the Beaches, and additional routes throughout the season.

    Attendance at any specific training day is not required to benefit from the class. Consistency is encouraged, but flexibility is built in.

    TRAINING CLASS COACH BIO

    Sharon Langieri is a certified RRCA running coach with a passion for helping runners achieve their goals. An avid runner since 2001, she has directed and managed numerous running events nationwide over the past decade. Sharon has competed in races ranging from the mile to the marathon, including several distance relays, and spent several years as a pace leader for this class before becoming the coach.

    Sharon is committed to helping you become a stronger, more confident runner while building a fun, welcoming, and motivating training community.

    REGISTRATION INFORMATION

    There is no fee for credit/debit card payment online.

    Members of previous classes will be emailed a discount code for the special $45 previous class rate. Class shirts are a $12 option for all entrants.  Design is TBD.

    Pace Leaders are an essential part of JTC Running’s training classes. They help lead and support a group of runners during the Tuesday and Saturday class runs, providing encouragement, guidance, and accountability throughout the training cycle.

    Pace Leaders are expected to:

    1. Be present and on time for Tuesday night runs (6:15pm group discussion, 6:30pm run start) and Saturday long runs (7:00am start).
    2. Commit to attending a majority of the scheduled training sessions. We understand that conflicts may come up, but consistency is key for your group’s success.
    3. Notify Sharon (call/text at 386-503-1341) if you’re unable to attend a training run, ideally with at least 24 hours’ notice.
    4. Arrange coverage when possible if your group does not have another leader available.
    5. Keep your group together as best as you can and ensure everyone reaches the final destination safely. If runners spread out, do your best to check in with both the front and back of the group.
    6. Support and community. Lead your assigned pace group to the best of your ability while creating a positive, welcoming, and encouraging environment for all participants.
    7. Follow the planned course routes as closely as possible.
    8. Communicate with Sharon promptly if any issues, concerns, or suggestions arise during the season.

    Individuals selected to serve as Pace Leaders will receive a one-year extension on their JTC Running membership from the class start date (September 8, 2026).
