    This morning event occurs between 6:00 am and 7:00 a.m. on Wednesdays. 

    Members attending this event are required to observe existing Bolles School visitors’ rules (comportment, COVID and/or other requirements) during their stay.   

    The group meets Wednesday mornings between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. on the Bolles School track for group interval training. Members will sign in, warm up, and perform some dynamic stretching. Track intervals begin at 6:00.

     TWO registrations are required to participate in this event: 

    1. You must be a registered member of JTC Running. 
    2. You must register for the Bolles Wednesday Morning Workout Group event online, at least 18 hours prior to attending your first week's event. The registration is good for all remaining weeks of the year, ending in December.  Persons who are not on the morning event roster will not be permitted on the track.   

    You may be asked for your Drivers’ License by the Bolles entrance security guard prior to any morning's workout. The security guard might scan your Drivers’ License through the Raptor program (a sexual predator data base) to be sure you meet security requirements. 

    Parking: After entering the campus, take the 2nd left turn; the baseball field will be adjacent on the left as you drive into the lot. Park in an open space in that lot. Walk from there to the track; the bright stadium lights will show the way. Do not park in the enclosed parking area closest to the track. After your workout, you must vacate the parking area by 7:20; it is then reserved for student and staff parking. Walk from there to the track; the bright stadium lights will show the way.  

    Meet with the JTCRunning coach on the track not later than 6:00 a.m. and initial the check-in sheet next to your name. The coach will inform the group of any new or expected changes in campus rules or procedures, matters related to members and events, then give a description of the intervals. Runners may place personal items such as hydration, towels, masks, etc. along the fence near the starting line.  Rest rooms are available under the stadium seating area. 

    Please note that the workouts are geared towards adults. Registered runners age fifteen and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times during the session.

    The group meets Wednesday evenings at the Bolles School for an interval track workout. Members will sign in, warm up, and perform some dynamic exercises in advance of the 6:00 p.m. intervals. Our schedule of Wednesday evening intervals is listed on the JTC Running website Calendar at https://jtcrunning.com/calendar/  Please click on the link to become familiar with it. 

    Occasionally a JTC Wednesday ev
    ening interval event is cancelled (blacked out) due to a Bolles School Athletic activity, scheduled or unscheduled.  When our scheduled events are cancelled due to a blackout, an alternate location, with instructions for the workout, will be sent to the event members by e-mail.

    Pace Leaders are a critical part of JTC Running's training classes. They lead a number of training class participants on the Tuesday and Saturday class runs and are expected to:

    1.  Be present and on time for the Tuesday night runs (start time: 6:15 group discussion - 6:30 run time) and the Saturday Long Runs (7am start).

    2.  If you are unable to attend a training run, please email/call/text Sharon at (386)503-1341 with at least 24 hours notice, if possible. 

    3.  If you are unable to attend a training run, please have someone fill in for you if your pace group does not have another leader.

    4.  Do your best to keep your group together.  If someone is falling behind, please do your best to ensure everyone reaches the final destination safely.  You might need to run between the 2 groups or send the group on if there is someone who knows the way :-)

    5.  Be flexible and patient.

    6.  Stick to the course routes the best you can.  

    7.  Communicate with Sharon if there are things that need to be addressed in a timely manner. 

    Individuals selected will be given a one year extension on their JTC Running membership from the starting date of the class, April 1, 2025.

    TRAINING CLASS DESCRIPTION

    The 2025 5k Training Class is a NEW 8-week program designed to help individuals of all fitness levels prepare for the Memorial Day 5k race (late May). Whether you are a beginner aiming to complete your first 5k or a more experienced runner looking to improve your time, this program will provide the structure, guidance, and support you need to succeed.

    The class starts on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 Outside 1st Place Sports, Baymeadows Store (3931 Baymeadows Road, Jacksonville, FL 32217) at 6:15 PM (come prepared for a short run or walk that evening after a brief introduction). 

    If you're unsure whether this class is right for you, come out on the first day to learn more. Our past class members, pace leaders, and the coach will be available to answer any questions and help you decide if this is the right training for you.

    YOUR RUNNING LEVEL

    This class is open to runners of all levels, whether you're a beginner or an experienced athlete. We'll accommodate everyone, from those preparing for their first 5k to those aiming to improve their race times. The program includes continuous running and run/walk intervals at varying paces to suit each runner’s fitness level. For seasoned runners focused on improving their 5k time, we'll emphasize consistent mileage, increasing intensity, cross-training, and strength. We recommend experienced runners start with an established long run of 4-10 miles. Beginners are welcome to join with no prior experience, and we’ll help you gradually build your mileage to complete a 5k.

    GROUP RUNS

    Tuesdays: With the exception of the first class, all other Tuesday classes will meet at 6:15 PM on the Riverwalk outside of the Winston Family YMCA- Riverside. A brief group discussion will be held at 6:15 PM to go over training tips and topics relevant to the week’s focus and the run will start promptly at 6:30 PM. 

    Saturdays: We will meet Saturdays at 7:00 AM at various locations around Jacksonville, including Downtown, Ortega, Nocatee, San Marco, and the Beaches

    Wednesdays (Optional): For those aiming to improve your 5k times. We highly encourage attending the Bolles Track workouts. This is a JTC member benefit(available to all JTC members, not just class participants), focusing on speed work, interval training and pacing. 

    TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED

    Group discussions, held before most Tuesday group runs, may cover topics such as:

    • Training Plan Development
    • Pacing Strategies
    • Injury Prevention & Recovery
    • Nutrition for Runners
    • Running Shoe Selection
    • Stretching & Foam Rolling
    • Mental Preparation for Race Day
    • Rest & Recovery
    • Cross-Training Recommendations

    TRAINING CLASS COACH

    The class is conducted by Sharon Langieri, a certified RRCA running coach with a passion for helping runners achieve their goals. Sharon has been an avid runner since 2001 and has directed and managed numerous running events nationwide over the past decade. She has competed in a variety of races, ranging from the mile to the marathon, including several distance relays. With several years of experience as a pace leader in the class, Sharon is eager to take on the role of coach. Her mission is to support you in reaching your running goals, fostering strength and confidence, and building a vibrant community focused on enjoyment and achievement. Alongside Sharon, dedicated pace leaders will be on hand to provide additional guidance and encouragement.

    REGISTRATION INFORMATION

    Registration is online. There is no fee for credit/debit card payment online. Participants in prior Gate River Run and Fall Half Marathon Classes will be emailed $5 discount codes for entry in this class.

    Active members who have done a previous class will be emailed a code to register at the $45 previous class rate.

    Class shirts are a $12 option for all entrants.

    Can't run with us June 4? Select the Not Running But Donating registration type. JTC Running will match your donation to Marathon High.

    Celebrate Global Running Day on Wednesday, June 4 with a 5k fun run! The online entry fee is a $10 donation to Marathon High, a local nonprofit program that challenges at-risk teens to train for a 13.1 mile half-marathon in order to develop positive futures. All entrants will enjoy free beer, hot dogs and burgers after the run. 

    Check in for wrist bands needed for food and drink begins at 6 pm. Runners can start the fun run when they wish as there won't be a fixed time start.

    Day of race fee is $15, so sign up online by June 3!

    JTC Running will match each entry fee donation to Marathon High.

    In addition, each donor will have the option to join JTC Running, or extend their current membership for 12 months at the special price of $14.95 for an individual or $19.95 for a family. This discount on membership is only available in conjunction with this event.
